Sport Foundation Classes
This class will cover most of the material covered in Puppy Foundations, but will emphasize skills necessary for excelling in sports, including building toy and food reinforcement systems, personal play, various forms of targeting, and interaction with objects such as as platforms and cones, You will also learn how to build a solid relationship with your new puppy and a good foundation for a well-balanced adult dog. Develop skills for maintaining your puppy’s attention, teach basic obedience cues (come, sit, down, stay, and loose-leash walking), socialize your puppy to a new environment and other dogs and people.

Beginner Sport Dog
This class will cover most of the material covered in Life Skills, but will emphasize skills necessary for excelling in sports, including strengthening toy and food reinforcement systems and the ability to move between them fluently, personal play, various forms of targeting, and interaction with objects such as as platforms and cones--there will be a focus on performing these skills around distractions, You will also build a solid relationship with your young dog and a good foundation for a well-balanced adult dog. Develop skills for maintaining your dog's attention, teach basic obedience cues (come, sit, down, stay, and loose-leash walking), and practice training in a new environment around other dogs and people.

Building Blocks & Problem Solving for Sports
Build upon Beginner Sport to teach your dog to perform even in challenging situations. Teach your dog the foundation skills they will need for a variety of canine sports and fitness work. Increase your understanding of proper training techniques and learning theory.
This class is for dogs six months and up who understand conditioned reinforcers & and have basic skills that need strengthening.
Prerequisite: Beginner Sport

Introduction to Scent
Stimulate your dog's brain with the wonderful world of nose work! Learn how to build an effective reinforcement system for scent work. Teach your dog to identify all the odors used in U.S nose work trials and communicate to you when they have located an odor. Build confidence and have fun searching for odor in a variety of beginner scenarios.

Beginner Scent

Build advanced handling skills, learn how to solve training issues. Gain experience searching interior, exterior, vehicle, and buried search areas.

Intermediate Scent
Build on the skills learned in Advanced Beginner scent. Help your dog develop independent searching skills and confidence. Work on the team's ability to handle more complex hides, such as elevated hides and overlapping scent. Learn scent theory basics and develop a strong handling skills an dhow to partner with your dog to solve scent problems.

Sport SAR
Want to take a super fun, energetic class that will teach your dog to track footsteps or find people in the woods?
Using search and rescue training methods, this class will build a great partnership with you and your pup.
This class is okay for dogs that are reactive to other dogs but is not good for dogs reactive to people. First class is NO DOGS. We'll be doing both tracking and "live find" or "airscent" training in one class, so you can do either one! Note class dates as there is a break in the class dates.

Tricks for Sports & Fitness
Yes, tricks are cute and can impress your friends and family. They can also build skills for sports like agility, Rally, and Freestyle & increase core strength, proprioception, and overall fitness. Hone your own training skills, increase your dog's well being, and build a great relationship with your dog, all while having a lot of fun!

Backyard Agility
Have fun with your dog this summer teaching them to go over obstacles safely and run basic courses in a fenced outdoor area. This course is designed for people who want to give their dog fun and exercise in class and in their own back yards.
This is not a competition agility class--if you plan to compete, contact us for referrals.

Distractive & Mildy Reactive
This class is perfect if your dog needs extra help focusing on tasks and on you in new environments or is overly excited about meeting other dogs and people.
The first session will take place without dogs present.

Reactive Dogs, Level 2
New behavior patterns can take awhile to build and solidify into new habits. This class builds on the skills learned in the basic reactive dog class making them stronger and you dog more fluent with copying appropriately with former triggers.

Kathryn offers private training and behavior consultations. Training topics include basic manners, sport foundation skills, scent detection, tracking and trailing. Behavior consultation topics include, among other things, anxiety, fearfulness, reactivity and aggression.
